It’s past New Year’s Eve. How are you feeling about your resolution? By now many people have abandoned their resolution.

Do you ever wonder why great resolutions are made, only to abandon them in just a few weeks?

Not enough time is spent giving the what and why we declare some goals or resolutions.

Accomplishing goals is similar to the seasons, each has its own quality. Spring is a time to prepare for growth. Summer represents growth. Fall is realizing the fulfillment. And winter is a time to reflect.

Perhaps resolutions are abandoned because the step of reflection has been passed and gone right to growth. Or expected growth.

Reflection helps a person ponder what goals are important enough to undertake. And then what steps are beneficial to the successful resolution of the goals.  Reflection also helps you to be honest enough to realize if you really want to undertake a goal. And when in reality you don’t want to put honest effort into a goal, release the goal until and if ever ready.

Early winter, a couple months before New Year’s Eve is the time to begin reflecting on what you want or how you want to live your life. What is important? How much effort and energy do you want or are willing to spend toward accomplishing a desired outcome? Then consider what are reasonable steps that will be willingly taken to accomplish the resolution goal?

If you spend time in reflection, next New Year’s Eve, you will be prepared to declare your resolution because you’ve given reflective time, and consideration, and are better prepared for success.
