Pets bring comfort, love, joy, and much more. Take time to celebrate your pets. Pets earn the right to be celebrated through giving us their love and so much more.
Often, when planning a celebration, we include delicious food, wonderful beverages, and maybe party decorations.
But when celebrating our pets, the best celebration we can give them is first our love and then our care, which provides them with a quality life.
However, the best way to celebrate beloved pets to to ensure they have the quality of life. Quality of life also helps them with longevity. However, I’ll be the first to tell you I can express what is close to ideal, while also not being perfect in following the ideal.
In truth, I do not believe perfection ensures desirable to perfection. And let’s be honest, we are people and as such not perfect. Even animals in the wild cannot live life with such perfection as to ensure a long life. So the ideal is to celebrate our pets in a realistic and fun manner in between, a balance of the ideal, more than not, and those times and ways that are less perfect.
To begin, in celebration of pets is to show them love. Just like people, each animal accepts attention in differing ways. Know your pet well enough to understand them and how they appreciate affection. Among our pets is one who gives us her belly for wonderful belly rubs. As she receives her belly rubs, she has a way of moving into your hand to show connection and appreciation. Another of our group comes up asking to be picked up. With her, be careful, because her way of showing trust and connection is to melt. She trusts us so much that she relies on us to provide her safety as she goes limp in appreciation for all the attention she’s receiving. While another of our group, often sits off by herself until she comes over expecting to get our undivided attention for a little time, then off she goes to play or sit quietly. And a client I know has a bird that squawks quite loudly until either acknowledged by a “hello” or when a greeting is not enough, he receives a rub on his head. These are only a few ways each animal lets us know how they want to receive attention from us.
That connection and attention are as important to them as it is to us. This connective bond and love help each of us thrive. Love is important to health and a happy, long life. And you don’t have to take my word. Many studies prove that connection is essential to health and happiness. As well, some studies show the devastating effects of an unloving, unconnected life. I prefer the joy of connection, love, health, and life joys, especially the times shared with pets.
The next important way to celebrate our pets is to provide them with the highest quality for health we can provide. Again, many studies discuss the importance of what is eaten and gut biome health. The healthier the biome, the greater the assurance of longer health and a sense of security. Though what you decide to feed your pet is critically important, there are several differing diets deemed the best. So you need to decide what you think is the best. And when unsure what’s best, try a supplement that offers added nutritional benefits. You can also talk with the professionals you work with, remembering each has their idea of what is ideal and/or convenient. We’ve decided to do a combination of things so we cover both what has been shown beneficial, as well as very convenient when needed. Sometimes we need convenience over ideal. Also, at the end of events, we tend to go for convenience when we have dinner. As a result, one of our dogs has developed a taste for French fries. I know fries are not a good food for dogs. And in truth, with the oil and salt, they are considered unhealthy. So, as I’ve said, I am not perfect. As a reward for her hard days work, she is rewarded with a couple French fry pieces with as much salt removed. In our life most of us want a treat, and so do they. Consider these factors: the treat, size and kind of pet, frequency, amount, and potential effects. When down in balance, a small treat can generally be allowable. However, if your pet needs a very special diet, follow that diet. You are not providing them a treat if that treat produces more harm than fun. But, just like us, an occasional careful balanced treat can help bring a special fun fun-filled pleasure to life.
To begin, remember that positive affection that is appreciated and received well by your pet brings trust, connection, and mutual love. This love is powerful and helps bring stronger health and joy to life. Then, in support, the next consideration for health is to provide beneficial food. These two areas are the foundation for us to celebrate the privilege of having a pet’s affection in our lives.
