It’s quite simple: when life gives us a problem, we tend to feed the problem. From a problem—both simple and small—trauma is created. Some issues begin as a problem and, through attention and feeding, become a drama. As well, things happen that create instant trauma. However a trauma begins, respect that if it’s a trauma, it’s a real trauma. Whether the trauma is instant because of the intensity and event, or fed to become a trauma, honor that it is real.

Traumas can be significant, and they can be seemingly small. They can come on instantly through one event or build over time. However the trauma comes to be, the one commonality of traumas is this: it creates a rewiring in the brain. Traumas create new brain wave receptivity, reaction, and response.

One trauma sets into motion new reactions and expectations to many further events and experiences. They often also make a person more sensitive to other situations that create further traumas. Experiencing traumas in life becomes a pattern of expectation.

For some, living life one trauma drama after another brings attention and recognition. This is, however, not the way most people want to live. And the only way to ease a trauma is to rewire the brain.

There are many ways to try to rewire your response. I am not an expert. I know of a few pieces necessary to rewire the brain.

A few of the common requirements to rewire the brain are: being committed (not necessarily to the point where the attention is all-encompassing and disruptive to general life activities and interactions), making repeated attempts to give attention to forming new patterns, using trial and error to find the way or ways that are most effective for you, having others around you who are supportive, remembering that change can be hard on those around you, and being kind and caring toward yourself.

As you work (and it is work), remember many others are also attempting to change their own traumas at one time or another. And above all, look for those who do support you. Look forward and live in the place that allows and encourages good to be a part of your life. Recognize and allow the good to come to you. Blessings exist. Good people exist. A feeling of being solid exists. You are good. You are solid. And you are worthy.
